About Me

Although I’ve always had a thing for photography, I didn’t actually pick up the camera and get serious about it until February, 2000. My first camera was an old Canon FT which was basically a fully manual slr camera. I guess you could say I started from the ground floor and worked my way up, learning what I needed to and the different techniques as I went.  I learned very quickly that it doesn’t take an expensive camera to take great photos. It’s more about the quality of lens and your ability to capture what you see in your mind. I’ve had people see some of my photos and then say “you must have a great camera”. Can you imagine if someone boasted about your mothers cooking and then say  “she must have great pots and pans”?  Well here I am, eight years later and with the encouragement and support of my incredible wife, starting another adventure. One that will take some of my work I’ve done over the years and let others see it. For me, that’s a scary thought. My photography has always been a very personal thing and has only been shared with family. As you’ll soon find out, I am my worse critic. I can look at my work and find more wrong than right. I’m not sure why I do this, maybe this is how we naturally strive for perfection.

I’ve been married to my beautiful bride for 18 years. She has made all 18 years the most wonderful years I could have ever hoped for. She’s great at crafting and her creative side is something I find very inspiring. Most importantly, she’s an awesome mother with more patients than I would ever hope to have.  My two sons will be my legacy, although I’m not quite sure what that means at the moment. They both have made the proudest parent on this planet. My first born is 21 y/o and is currently serving his country. He’s my fishing partner and bud. My 10 y/o is un-schooling and is smarter than me And his mother. He’s my hiking partner and bud. My wife seems to grow more beautiful by the day. She’s my inspiration. She recently stopped coloring her hair and the silver that’s showing up is just gorgeous! She’s my life partner and bud.

I’m a huge outdoors freak too. I’m happiest on top a mountain with camera in hand listening to total silence. I can sit in one spot for hours and watch the wildlife walk by. This probably has to do with the many years I spent as a hunter. I still hunt but now it’s more with a camera and the cleanup is SO much easier! I also love spending a few nights out in the woods, hiking during the day and watching the stars at night. It’s what I do…
